Motorcycle Repair: Fuel problem, fuel valve, gas tank

Question
I recently got the shadow at an auction, so I don\´t know the history of the
bike. I noticed the bike had been laid down on the right hand side. When
trying to start the bike I notice the fuel was not getting to the carbs. I tested
and replaced the relay, twice, and also replaced the fuel pump. And still, I can
not get the fuel pump to pump fuel to the carbs. Is there any one that could
help me. I don\´t know if there are any fuel cut-off relays/ sensors on the
bike. Or for that matter anything else that could cause the fuel not to be
pumping. I have a manual, but it does not go into detail about the fuel
system to the extent that I need it to. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Scott,

I will try to answer but you did not include
the year and engine size of your bike.
-There is sometimes a fuel cut relay which gets
power from one of the bikes fuses. The relay wires
run to the coil and also to the fuel pump.
-First thing check if you have gas coming from the tank
to the fuel pump, is there a filter inline?
There is a screen up inside the gas tank on the
fuel valve that could be plugged.
-If fuel is ok to the pump, check the fuse.
The fuel cut relay should have at least 3 wires on it.
The fuel pump has a green (ground) wire and another
wire maybe black/blue wire that is the power wire.
See if power is getting to the pump
on that wire. Can you hear the pump at all?
You might have to trace the wiring.
If you have no power to the cut off relay and
pump, check your kill switch.
