Motorcycle Repair: Fuel leak, kawasaki vulcan 800, video moment

Question
2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800. The bike sat for about 2 months waiting for handlebar replacement etc. Fired easily, good idle, yet hesitated when warm. Got it going finally after feathering the throttle. Ran to work (~1 mile!). Started up after work and ran fine. The bike was in the garage about an hour and found a fuel leak - NON-stop from the air filter side near (I think) some linkage point above all lower hose connections. I didn't start it for fear of a fiery funniest video moment - maybe I should have to see if it would clear its throat. I've scoured the questions on the site and have concluded that perhaps the float may be stuck, or maybe its a clogged jet. I've never studied fuel systems before, so I'm in uncharted territory here. What are some of the most common overflow issues? I'm trying to find the easiest way to get this thing to stop leaking before I have to start tearing it apart. Also, I'm still fuzzy on how this particular petcock works - I'm used to ON/OFF/RES, not "PRI"/"ON"... What exactly does "prime" accomplish?

Answer
The fuel leak could very well be the fuel valves sticking due to crud in the float bowl, or possibly from the fuel starting to Gel up, the prime Position is so if the bike runs out of fuel and the bowls become drained, this can accomplish filling the bowls without having to "dry crank" the engine to produce vaccum from the engine to fill the bowls..

Hope this helps!
