Motorcycle Repair: yamaha r6, chain tensioners, cam chain

i have a 2000 r6 it has 25,000 miles. after the bike warms up it makes a knocking or ticking sound at idle when i give it throttle it goes away until it returns to idle. also it shifts ruff.

Hi Stancy,

The R6s' have had issues with the cam chain tensioners, your best bet would be to just go an but a new one and go with that, especially for its milage, its more than likely time for a new one anyway. I think they run about $40 or so..
