Motorcycle Repair: z650 engine swop, kawasaki z650, kill switch

Question
i have a 1981 kawasaki z650 f2 with standard electronic ignition and i want to fit an engine from a 1977 model with points ignition, what will i have to change to make it work thanks del

Answer
Del,

-the ignition coils may be different but you
can try them. The wiring will need some reworking.

-The points wires will have to connect separately to the
negative side of each coil, probably the
coil black or green wires. The positive side of the coils
needs to connect to a 12v fused and switched power source.
Preferably from the ignition switch and
downstream from the kill switch.
-If you have power going through the kill switch, connect
the coils to this so they turn off when
you turn the kill switch off.
