Motorcycle Repair: gold wing 1100, ballast resistor, gold wing 1100

Question
why do you think my spark is weak on all cyls ?x

Answer
Jim, can you quantify that question a little more? Does it have enough spark to run or do you think that the quality of the spark is insufficient or deficient? Does the engine run and idle, but not run well at high speeds? Is the battery fully charged and less than 2 years old? Is the spark weak at cranking speeds only?

may be able to answer more specific questions for your bike.

GL1100s had new transistorized ignition vs the old points and condensers of the GL1000, from what I know. Older bikes had a ballast resistor to reduce the voltage to the coils after the engine is running.

As mentioned on the profile page, due to their car-like complexity, I never spent a lot of time or have had interest in Gold Wings. If you are asking questions about your machine of others, be very specific in what you are asking for, please. Specify the symptoms, condition of your machine (miles, year, any modifications) and anything else that could be helpful to assist others in assisting you.
