Motorcycle Repair: 1977 kz650 b-2 camchain tenshioner, camshaft sprockets, kz650

Question
took off broken housing and put back on, now bike doesn't turn over via electric or kick start. seems locked up. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Thank You.

Answer
Lonnie,

what housing did you take off, the cam chain
tensioner or cam cover? Was the cam chain loose
or off the sprockets? If the chain was loose and
the camshafts turned, your valve timing
will be off and needs to be aligned.

If the valve timing has been upset you
could have valves hitting the pistons
and could have bent valves or other serious
damage.
I suggest carefully taking it apart and making
sure the timing marks are all aligned on
the flywheel or rotor and the marks
on the camshaft sprockets. The camchain
has to be put on with all these marks
properly aligned or it is very bad for
your engine.
Hope it isn't the problem, if you give
me more information, maybe I can be more
help.
