Motorcycle Repair: 2003 Yamaha V-Star wont start!, yamaha v star, loose wire

Question
Hi there...I have a 2003 V-Star with 6,000 miles on it that suddenly won't start.  I pulled it out of the garage, then killed the engine and put the kickstand down to go shut the gate behind me.  When I went back to the bike, it would not start.  It turns over but does not catch.  I checked the spark plugs, all seem fine.  I can't imagine it being a battery issue, since it had just started up moments before.  Also, now when I go to try and start it, it backfires very loud.  Sounds gasoline-related to me.  Any ideas?

Answer
Lee,

-did you check for fuel in the carbs?
-It could be a fuse on the fuel pump circuit
or loose wire or connector.
-If it backfires it must have spark,
-Check the connector to the ignition module,
could be a loose wire.
-It may have ran out of fuel for some
reason. Check your fuses, connectors,
fuel pump and fuel filter and fuel.
Check the spark also, maybe side stand switch
has some issue.
