Motorcycle Repair: 1988 Kawasaki KX125 Transmission Problem, kawasaki kx 125, kawasaki kx125

Question
Hi, I have a project Kawasaki KX 125 that will not shift or go into gear. I am not sure how deep I am going to have to go to fix this. Could this just be a shift fork problem or am I going to have to find a whole new transmission? Also am I going to have to split the case for this? I am just trying to figure out if this is too much of a project for me.

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,

The problem may simply be a linkage related problem. It may be more serious such as shift drum, fork, or gear related problems.

You'll have to perform an inspection to learn the causes of the problems. Inspection may require complete tear-down including separating the cases.
