Motorcycle Repair: timing problem, honda xr80r, first mistake

Question
Hi, I'm 14, and i have a Honda xr80r and everytime i crank it up there is a ticking sound coming from the engine and it sounds like the timing is going to fall out.I don't have a manual for my bike and i would like to know how to adjust the timing on it. So if you don't mind, would you help me? Thank you.

Answer
I'm confused myself. Here's the first mistake in your description. This is a dirtbike, so it would use a two cycle engine. Unlike a 4 cycle, two cycle motors don't use "timing" parts, and there aren't any valves that would "tick" persay. It's likely you have spun a bearing in the engine, or if this has a manual trans, it may be something in the transmission. But sounds to me like the engine may have spun a bearing.
