Motorcycle Repair: 77 flh, breather tube, oil tank

Question
I started my bike up today , noticed a little oil on the garage floor and as always
checked the level it was low so I added some.pushed it out the garage and
started her up strapped on my helmet looked down and oil was flowing out of
my
breather tube and behind my carb, have you  ever seen this ?

Answer
What is happening is oil is weeping into the lower end of the bike. there is a ball in the oil pump that is suppose to close off when the bike isnt running. With age sometimes it weeps since the oil tank is higher than the motor. When you start the bike the oil pump cant pump it out fast enough so it comes out the breather. It really doesnt hurt anything. i would remove the breather tube and run it to the bottom of the bike so if this happens again it goes to the ground
Good luck and happy riding
