Motorcycle Repair: 85 honda Rebel CB250, clutch work, clutch lever

Question
the tranny is stuck in second and i cant get it out.

Answer
Trevor.. a little more info would have been welcomed...

Did this happen suddenly?
Did the bike sit for a long time?
Does the clutch work?
Does the shift lever move up and down?
Does the bike roll with the clutch lever pulled in?
How many miles on this machine?
Does it run?
Does it have oil in it?
Does the oil have metal particles in it?
Has it been crashed?

Any and all of the above questions would help me to try to help you. FYI the model is a CMX250. CB250 is a Nighthawk.

If the shift shaft is jammed, then I would probably start with pulling the clutch cover and inspection the shift selector parts, first. If the selector parts appear to be functional and the transmission is still jammed in 2nd, then probably you are going to have to tear the motor down for repairs to this shift drum, shift forks and/or gears in the transmission.
