Motorcycle Repair: 1990 ninja, radiator cap, fan sensor

this bike will run fine untill it gets hot(oil bubble through the looking glass)and then it just wants to die after 5min. or so the fan never kicks on .....water pump ..... kinda of stumped please help   thanks jim

-sounds hot, on the bottom of the radiator
is your fan sensor switch, this is supposed
to turn your fan on by grounding the black/yellow
wire,if the fan itself is working okay.

-You can pull the wire off the sensor
and try grounding it to see if the fan runs.
If not, check for power to your fan or
hook the fan directly to a battery and see
if it runs.

-If the power to the fan is okay and the fan works,
then your fan sensor switch is faulty.

-If it still overheats after fixing the fan,
check for a stuck thermostat or bad radiator cap.
Hopefully you won't need to replace the water pump.
