Motorcycle Repair: 2000 Heritage springer, heritage springer, fuel gauge

Question
Hello,
After riding my bike for about 5 miles
The speedometer ,tack, fuel gauge, and lights start going nut
The speedometer goes from 0 to 50 to 20
The tack  and fuel gauge and amp gauge does the same thing
The lights goes off and comes back on
One all of this start the bike starts running on one cylinder
It cut on and off
If i cut the bike off about 2 or 3 minutes it will run great for about another 5 mile and star doing the same thing
I have had it to dealer ship and no one can figure out the problem
I got it back from a repair shop yesterday ,they said they fixed a loose wire and that was the problem, WRONG
It is doing the same thing, plus the starter is spinning and take a while to catch and start
ANY HELP will be greatly appreciated
THANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jesse

Answer
You have a short in the electrical system and the only thing that can be done is trace it out. SInce it affects the headlight and gages, it will be in the lighting system. Look for a pinched wire.
The spinning starter sound like the solenoid is not engaging as soon as the starter button is pushed. The solenoid would have to be checked
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
