Motorcycle Repair: Old Honda and chinese clone engines, trails bikes, honda engine

Question
I have several old C105 Honda 55 Trails bikes, can any of the Chimnese made Honda clone engines fit, what about  charging system and ignition changeover from 6v to 12v.  Also have CT200 and CT 90's that I could repower .  What is your opinion?  diffficult to do, can be done, etc...

Answer
Glenn,
sound like a fun project. I believe it could be done
with some minor modifications.
I am not sure how close the motor mounts would be.
The clones look very much like the old Honda engine.
The new engine would need the related 12v rectifier/
regulator and battery. You may need a 12v ignition coil.
Should be possible with some rewiring. The existing
wiring could be used as much as possible as it is
heavy enough for the current.
If the clone uses an ignition box, you may need that.
A honda rectifier may work depending on the clone.
I will see if I can learn more, if you know of any
clone wiring diagrams let me know.
