Motorcycle Repair: 02 Yamaha V-Star Rotor Removal, piston rod, yamaha v star

Question
I have an '02 V-Stra Classic which started rattling and siezed up on the way to work one day. When the bike had cooled off, i tried starting it again and it ran but still rattled. I started tearing down the motor, and realized the piston rod clamp on the front piston has loosened. My problem is I can't get the rotor off to split the cases. Please help.

Answer
Eddie,

You gave me a 7 for knowledge, what do you
find unknowledgable about a full and complete
answer to your question??

Yamaha uses a special puller to remove the rotor.
Flywheel Puller YU-33270,90890-01362 (fits all)
and an adaptor YM-38145,90890-04131 (1100 only)
Some models require a different adaptor, but
usually use the same puller.
You can truck it down to your Yamaha dealer and maybe he
will pop it off for you.
If the rod is loose, likely the crankshaft journal
is damaged. You may be able to replace the bearing
shell but it won't last long if the crank is bad.
Also you may want to clean and check the oil pump.
