Motorcycle Repair: 2000 650 v star, book specs, bikebandit com

bike was put up with gas in it for about 2 yrs. we removed carbs & cleaned. new filters & all. bike will not start when cold. can hand choke wil start and start every time after it gets warmed up. have reset idle mix to book specs.have checked compression  160 &165. all vacuum has been checked. need help  runs good after warmed up. thanks

this is a wild guess, but did you check the
carb heater? It helps cold starts.
It is a little screw in device with a wire on it.
Check for power and check it for continuity
with a multimeter. It could be a choke air jet passage plugged badly but check the heater first.
