Motorcycle Repair: Rear breaks on 01 FXSTD/I, harley service, harley dealership

Question
Just got an '01 Deuce and it needs rear break pads.  I have no problem wrenching, but know very little about bikes.  This is my first bike and can't afford to have the work done at the dealership.  Is there a special tool needed to remove the calipers?  The bolts holding it on are not recessed alan heads or standard looking bolt heads.  Is this a problem or can I use standard sockets and wrenches to get them off?  Also will I need a special C clamp to hold the calipers open or will a small, standard C clamp work?  Do you know where I can acquire a Harley service manual and aprox. cost.  Thanks for your help, Kyle

Answer
First, you can get a service manual at any harley dealership. If it is not in stock they can order it. They cost around 50.00
To remove the calibers you need a 12 point socket. You dont need a c-clamp. Use the old brake pads and with a screwdriver just pry them open. They will stay open on their own.
Good luck and happy riding
