Motorcycle Repair: harley oil change, oil tank, oil level

i got 1993 springer, one of the problems is that i change the motor oil and it comes out dirty even right after a change, my second problem is i have a noise the left side by teh primary i bealieve that it had it since it was new but i would like to know how to check the oil there in the primary and what kind of oil should i put on it thank you.

When you drain your oil, there is still a little left in the oil tank and the bottom end of the motor which you are not going to be able to get out. that is why your oil looks dirty.
On the primary, the drain is located at the bottom of the primary cover. As long as the bike isnt leaking your oil level will be ok. You should use oil make for Harley primaries. It takes about 1.5 quarts.
Check the adjustment on your chain, that is what might be making the noise
