Motorcycle Repair: 76 cb750 f main fuse, fuse holder, fuse holders

Question
Main fuse getting hot or blowing. 7,000 miles. all original. great condition. I know they had a recall back then, how can I fix the wiring myself. Thanks a bunch

Answer
Kenny,
-some of the fuse holders tend to fail
and get hot as per the recalls.
You could try splicing in a better fuse
holder for the "main" fuse.
-if there is a problem other than the fuse holder,
you would have to methodically disconnect
each device on that circuit to see if it helps.
Also you may have to follow the wiring
back and check all connectors, switches and
grounds. The main fuse wire comes from the
battery and through the fuse and then on to
the ignition switch. From there on it could
be alot of things.
Start at the battery and check any connections
you can see. If it blows the fuse with the
switch off, that is a dead short, (bad)
If it blows while running it is likely
a bad component or connection.
NOTE: Check the group of wires in the loom that
plug into the wires from the rectifier.
(close to the fuse holder) sometimes
they can rub through over time and short.
