Motorcycle Repair: not holding charge, honda nighthawk 650, regulator rectifier

I have an 85' Honda Nighthawk 650 that will run great with a freshly charged battery, but it will not hold the charge, any ideas?

have you checked if the bike is charging?
Should have about 13.5 volts at the battery
on a fast idle.
Possible causes are loose connectors,
faulty battery, stator or regulator.
The wires coming up from the stator
on the engine are usually yellow,
check the connector. The output
between any two yellow wires with
multimeter set on AC volts is about 60Volts
If this is okay, probably a bad regulator/rectifier.
