Motorcycle Repair: 07 Ultra with Stage I Kit, screaming eagle pipes, stage 1

Question
I have an 07 ultra with the screaming eagle pipes and cleaner and the stage 1 flash on the bike's computer. When I am going down the road in 6th gear, the engine starts to ping very badley, especially when in cruise and it starts to go up an incline. I have had it back to the dealership for it's 1000 mile service and told the shop manager about it. His response was that that's just the way it is and to increase the rpm's to get rid of the pinging. He said it won't hur the engine.

I feel that I am doing damage to the engine when I run it when it is pinging, but the dealer says no.

Who is correct here?

Thanks

Answer
Pinging is a sign that the bike is knocking and is caused either by not enough octane in the gas, which will help with pinging, or the timing is to far advanced or to high of compression or being in to high of gear. Pinging can be bad, because it a small explosion in the cylinder when it not suppose to happen. You might be in to high of gear when it is happening
Good luck and happy riding
