Motorcycle Repair: 1990 Heritage Softail Throttle cables, throttle cables, heritage softail

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1990 Heritage Softail with a S&S Super "E" carb and I have to replace both of the cables. Which cable goes toward the outside of the bike and which one goes to the inside? Also what is the proper way to install and adjust them?

ANSWER: Not sure what you mean by which cable goes to the outside of the bike. You mean on the carb?

QUESTION: On the S&S Super "E" carb there is a butterfly type bracket that is mounted on the side of the carb and faces flat towards the rear of the bike. There is a hole in one side for the throttle cable and a hole in the other side for the idle cable. I believe that the throttle cable belongs on the hole closest to the engine and the idle cable goes on the other. What is the adjustment process?
Thanks,
Billy

Answer
The throttle cable goes in the shortest bracket. Once you installed the cables got to the adjuster and lengthen the throttle cable until the slack is out of it. then do the idle cable. Once this is done tighten the lo0cknut.
Good lucka and happy riding
