Motorcycle Repair: fuel cap, fuel filler cap, srx 600

I lost my key and need to fill my 1986 srx-600.  i was wondering if it was just a case of removing the bolts on top of the fuel filler cap to remove it or do you actually have to the fuel cap open to remove it?  i've already tried pretty unsuccessfully. thanks

Hi Daniel,

If I remember correctly, removing three fasteners from the top of the cap will allow removal. Remove the screws positioned left and right of the cap hinge, and the one directly in front of the cap lock lid.

If all else fails, consider asking a local locksmith to pick the cap lock for you. They charge about $30 in my area.
