Motorcycle Repair: Timing, suzuki dr, valve clearance

Hi I wondering what the timing should be an a 1985 suzuki dr 200 , anything would be nice to know and just to let you know some of the problems. Backfiring, not idling right, wont stay going. If these sound like a timing problem to you let me know and also the timing numbers thanks

Josh, I don't have a manual on that bike, but
it sounds more like low compression or tight
valve clearance. It could be a bent valve as I
have seen that.
You could check the fuel system, clean the carb,
air filter etc, make sure it's getting fuel.
I would only suspect timing if it has points/condensor,
otherwise I would check the things I mentioned.
