Just getting into the world of HD with the recent purchase of a 1975 XLCH 1000.  It's beautiful, but more than a little difficult to start - still trying to dial in the right mixture on the carb (S&S Super B)...lots of sputtering, backfiring, etc.  When I give it gas to try to keep idling, it dies.  Any tips on good places/resources to learn more about maintenance, care, etc...(other than your Q&A of course)...starting from the most basics?  Thanks, GMH

First, you have a old S&S carb with no pumper. If it were me I would replace it with a super E.
You can go to the S&S web site and you will find tech sheets on the carb and how to set them.
Your best sourse for info is the service manual. You should be able to get one at a dealership or anybody who sells Teds V-twin products.
