Motorcycle Repair: honda tappets and the word laup, oil holes, head gasket

i have an 84 goldwing gl 1200.  recently replaced right side head gasket.  im having trouble with noisy lifter/tappets.  ive followed the instructions to the best of my knowledge and still have noise.  manuel calls for the tappets installed with the oil holes facing "laup"   no idea what that means.  and help with the word or the problem is much appreciated.  thank you

I seen your question pending in the AllExperts' "Question Pool" and was tempted to take it.

I could not find any meaning for the word "laup." I have never heard, nor read the word in my mechanical studies.

I suspect the word is a typo that went un-noticed by the publisher's proof-readers. I believe the correction is "up."
