Motorcycle Repair: jetting and cam chain tensioners, chain tensioners, cam chain

Hi from the uk i have a 2003 fatboy with screemin eagle 2 pipes i am putting a se air cleaner on do you recommend a jet and needle kit?.read in one of your posts that you thought they were a waist of money.Also i have read that cam chain tensioners can wear out quick what mileage do you recommend a check many thanks john.

You can do a jet and needle kit if you want but I usually just open the idle adjustment to 2 1/2 turns, drill the idle jet out with a .020" needle drill and leave the main alone.  If you want you can also open the main a little but it's not necessary.  In my experience I've seen some bikes wear out cam chain tensioners in 30 or 40 thousand miles.
