Motorcycle Repair: FLHT 2000, oil dipstick, opil

Question
I just bought a used 2000 flht, carburated 1450 engine, just a couple of questions about maintenance : i have been told that i should change oil in 3 places; primary, engine and tranny. how much oil? what kind, where are dipsticks. I am used to japanese racers, this is my first harley. thanks for all your help.

Answer
If you plan on working on your own bike you best sorce of info would be a service manual.
Primary has adrain plug on the under side of the primary side. Drain and refill witht he bike standing upright. Fill to the bottom of the inspection cover for the clutch. Takes about 1.5 quarts
The trans and oil are on the pan underneith the bike. Drain and refill with the bike standing upright. The trans dipstick is on the right side of the bike. Its a allen head plug. takes about 1 qt.The oil dipstick is above it to the left. Its round and just pulls out. Oil is about 3.5 qts
For the primary, use primary oil, trans oil for the trans and motor opil for the engine. It should be 20w50
Good luck and happy riding
