Motorcycle Repair: 06-dr650 seat hieght adjustment., fork tubes, suzuki dr650

I need info on dropping the seat hieght on a 2006 suzuki dr650.ie  , how far to lower the front fork tubes,best way to brace the rear shock so i can move the linkage bolt.and can I cut an inch out of the kick stand and weld it back together.

On the dr's the linkage can be dropped by moving the shock bolt.that  will make in about an inch lower.i would them lower the forks about the same.The best way to brace the bike is to get a motorcycle jack.I would suggest doing the kickstand deal but that is entirly up to you.
