Motorcycle Repair: timing chain, honda xl, cam shaft

Question
Hi, I have a 1977 Honda XL 100 that I am working on and the problem is that my timing chain is a little loose I believe how do you work the timing chain tensioner and how can you tell if your chain is loose or not? When I take the two bolts out of my cam sprocket I can get the sprocket on and off of the camshaft real easily without any struggle. Also, I have trouble some times because when I take the two bolts out and take the spocket of the cam shaft the chain falls off the bottom sprocket.

Answer
The proper way to tighten the cam chain is too loosen the adjuster nut and turn the bolt in with your fingers until you cant turn it in anymore and then lock the nut.As for the chain falling down the motor take a pies of wire and wrap it around the chain before you remove the spocket. Before you install the top sporcket pull on the wire and make sure you are on the bottom.
