Motorcycle Repair: 90 Kaw EX500 Starter, spining, casing

Question
When trying to crack the motorcycle, I can hear the starter spining, but the engine will not engage.  If the starter needs to be replaced, please explain how.

I am not too sure on the location of the starter on the ex 500.I would first disconnect the battery,locate the starter.Remove the positive wire hooked to the casing of the starter and then you can remove the starter,via 2 bolts.Although there might be some guards and covers in the way.i would recommend buying a service manual to walk you through the process.glad i could help.
