Motorcycle Repair: 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100, honda shadow sabre, hydraulic lifter

QUESTION: My bike has developed a tick that sounds like it is coming from the front cyclinder. It dosent do it all the time but when it does it kinda sounds like a hydraulic lifter in a car. It uses no oil or has it lost any power. Do you think this anything for me to worry about
ANSWER: Is it when the motor is cold or has it been running for awhile?How many miles are on the bike and when was the last time that the valves were checked.

QUESTION: The bike has 17000 miles on it. It starts after the engine has warmed up. As far as the valves i dont know the bike had 6000 miles on it when i bought it and I havent had them checked or is it something i can do?

How do you warm the engine up if it doesnt start cold?Or what you meant to say is that it is hard to start when cold!The valves cn be a problem especially putting 11000 on them and never checking them.I suggest taking the bike to a dealer or a qualified tech for a complete overhaul unless you are confident that you can do it. if you are i will give you all the advice on how to go through it on your own.
