Motorcycle Repair: will die after riding for about 10 or 12 miles, harley davidson sportster 1200, harley davidson sportster

I have a 1999 Harley Davidson sportster 1200 XL, it has about 8500 miles on
it and I just recently had it serviced. And i told them what it had been doing,
they serviced it and rode it and said everything looked to be good. On the
way home it died and would not start back and till it cooled down. Hopefully
you can help me.

Why don't you take it back and get them to ride it for 10 or 12 miles.  Sounds like an ignition pickup located behind the "points" cover on the right side of the motor.  It unplugs from the harness and you have to mark the wire positions and then pull the pins out of the connector.  Get the new one first and you'll see what I mean.
