My machine will simply quit at very inconvenient times. It does not seem to be speed related; the engine quits, I turn it off, turn it on, hit the start button, and it starts right up. Noting, my machine has the digital instrument panel. One more thing; on occassion when starting after running, it will just spin the starter until I release the start button and then lights right off; sometime making a back-fire. This is annoying.

I would need to perform a few diagnostic checks to accurately diagnose the problem(s).

I recommend that you have a local Honda tech inspect the problem. It may be hard to find a dealer that will service Honda motorcycles over five years old.
