Motorcycle Repair: rear signal light, rear fender, signal wires

Question
QUESTION: hello mike, i broke the lt. rear signal light dome & cover. i have bought the replacement but can not figure out to remove the broken dome. i have unscrewed the nut which was located under the rear fender. what else is there to remove or unscrew so the dome will come off?
ANSWER: You never said what year the bike is, but in general you have to remove the wire either under the fender or behind the strut, depending on the model and year. Once you remove the wire and the nut it should just pull out.

QUESTION: my bad, it's a 2001 sporty custom. okay how do i remove the wire? it's clamped down by something. thanks, angelina

Answer
Remove the rear tail lamp lens and you will see two plug ins. These are the turn signal wires. Unplug the one that is damaged. The bolt for the turn signal asssembly is on the backside of the chrome strut, so you will have to remove it to get it off. The clamps you are refering to are held by the bolts that hold the fender and struts on.
