Motorcycle Repair: Sportster 1970 XLCH carb adjustment, (a new carb,ss I think (400.00 worthLOL), air fuel mixture, mixture adjustments

how do I set the mixture ect? 1970 XLCH only has 3000.1 miles on it runs great, ( was in a plastic bubble for 28 yrs, when theoriginal owner died in a truck acc.) Mixture adjustments??help thanks DDW

Looking at the top of the carb, you will see 3 screws. the one one the left is the idle. One in the center is the air fuel mixture and the one on the right is the pumper.
Start the bike and let it warm up. Adjus the air/fuel mixture by slowly turning it inward just until the bike stumbles then out 1/4 of a turn. remember, this only sets the air/fuel mixture at idle. If you are fouling plugs or running lean then you have to change jets
