Motorcycle Repair: V65 electrical short, honda v65, charging system

Hi Mark.  I have a 1985 Honda V65 VF1100 and something is draining the battery.  I had the charging system tested and put a new battery in it, that part is fine.  The other day I locked the forks in place and the tail/brake light came on.  I unlocked forks and removed key and light went off, but battery still being drained.  Help???  Need bike to commute.

Hi Jeff,

I suspect the current draw is a short within the wiring and connectors in the headlight housing.

Rotating the front-end about may be causing the wires to complete a circuit other than which they were intended (short).

You'll have to trace voltage/amps thru suspected circuits to locate the source and cause.
