Motorcycle Repair: clutch adjustment, sprockets and chains, clutch adjustment

Question
Mark,

I was trying to help a friend adjust his clutch on a 2006 zx600 because it creeps (after he dropped it on clutch basket side) and even after adjusting the cable end at the clutch actuator on side case as far as it would go it still creeps. The side case doesn't look damaged except for a small scrape so I am assuming there is no internal damage but I am at  loss to understand why the clutch does not disengage.  Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Ron,

I would have to inspect the parts to diagnose the problem.

I recommend disassembling the clutch housing and inspecting the clutch assy. Measure metal plates and check for evidence of warping.

Always replace clutch components as a kit; Fiber plates, metal plates, and springs. Same goes for sprockets and chains.

Respectfully,
