Motorcycle Repair: 2005/1200C front fork upper stem bolt, chrome cap, bolt

Question
I recently purchased a chrome cap for my stem bolt. I am curious if there is anything special that I need to know while installing. It comes as 2 parts, a bolt with a tapped and threaded hole to replace the old bolt. There is then the chrome cap which screws into the bolt, that is the easy part. Am I to remove the bolt only and just screw in the new bolt? Or is there anything else that I need to loosen up or tighten during this process? I sure don't want to be riding down the road and have my front end suddenly start shaking on me.

Answer
Yes, remove the old bolt and install the new one. Tighten just until it is snug. If you tighten it to tight the forks wont turn back and forth. Look at he upper tree for a pinch bolt around the bolt you have to remove. You will have to loosen it to remove the bolt.
Good luck and happy riding.
