Motorcycle Repair: 1994 VN1500A, vacuum leak, mounting bolt

I installed coasters on my Vulcan 2 years ago and have a problem with light oil leakage on the front of #1 cylinder. I have replaced the coaster gasket so many times that I had to get inserts installed because of coaster mounting bolts stripping. The leakage has significantly increased and I'm wondering where it could be coming from. I see the bottom coaster mounting bolt usually has oil dripping from it and wonder if I somehow enter the oil gallery. Please advise on procedure for tracking this leakage down. Thank You for your assistance.

Hi Dave,

Sorry, but I cannot help with locating the source of the leak without inspecting the parts.

I used to use Dr. Scholl's Foot Powder Spray to help locate minute leaks. The powder sprays on pure white and easily wipes off.

in some cases, you can use vacuum leak testing methods or smoke and flame methods to locate leaks. Read about smoke and flame methods in the article listed in this link:
