Hi Jerry,

Is the cylinder head defective or are you wanting to hop-up performance?

It's fruitless to work the head with a stock pipe, carburetor, and air filter. If you make changes, other changes will be necessary to make horse power.

Porting is scientific work. Radical porting may require more than one head to get the desired results. Simply removing casting marks, polishing, and mating pipe to head etc... generally improves performance and does not require buying another head.

Pump gas is not recommended with trick machine work. So, consider spending the extra cash to use at least crappy Turbo Blue. I recommend FassGass or VP race fuels.

Finding a local race oriented machinist shouldn't be that difficult.

Visit this ATV resource and ask around on the forum about your plans. You'll likely get a lot of feedback from other persons and their experiences, etc...

With those performance parts installed I think you'll enjoy more performance after cleaning up the head. I recommend using race fuel from a sealed container.

You'l have to search for the right person or shop to perform the work. I'd do it if your were local: Dayton, Ohio.
