Motorcycle Repair: honda ct90 clutch, honda ct90, serial number ranges

Question
Wanted to know if the clutch was the same for a few yrs. I have a 66 ct90 with a trashed clutch,, wil early 70"s fit?  Thanks

Answer
Bob, Your serial number is important so we can address your auto clutch question. Although the clutch has a lot of parts, they are not that difficult to overhaul with a few replacement items, rather than replace the whole unit.

It is important to know if this is a CT200 pushrod engine or the OHC CT90 motor, to start with. You have indicated that it is a CT90, but it would be a very early one if it is from 1966.

Using http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-ct90-trail-90-k0-us_model619/partslist/ as a guide, I see that there were changes to the parts at certain serial number ranges. If you have located a complete, working later model clutch assembly, you would need to compare the crankshaft splines and other parts that interact with the clutch assembly.

Contact the folks at http://ct90-ct110.com/ for more information that can narrow down the interchangeability of these parts for your machine.
