Motorcycle Repair: Fatboy floorboards & lightbar, harley fatboy, passenger floorboards

Question
Mike,
I just purchased a 2002 Harley Fatboy.  The standard shotgun pipes had been replaced with H&V Longshots.  I want to replace the standard passenger footpegs with floorboards, but the Harley accessory catalog says they won't fit.  I believe it is due to the stock pipes.  Will standard passenger floorboards, part 50602-00 fit or what can I do?  Second question- the bike came with an auxiliary light bar installed so they come on with the high beam.  I thought they should come on with the low beam or even stay on all the time.  What do most riders prefer and where do I look for the connections to make the switch?  Thanks for any help.
Ron

Answer
Lets start with the second question. Your lights should come on with the low beam, not the high beam. Somebody has wired it wrong. What you will have to do is locate the power tot he lights and locate the power to the low beam and switch the wire to the low beam side.
As to the floorborads, give a call to your local dealer and tell them what pipes you have. They will be able more to tell you if they fit. They might have a bracket that is not in the catolog that you need to get them to work
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
