Motorcycle Repair: High idle at start up, intake leak, stock configuration

Thanks for the info but 2000rpm is a little to high for normal not to mintion that it has'nt always done it.

I have a 04 Ultra Classic that idles at about 2000rpm
when started.At first it was intermittent but now all the time.I have replaced the idle cable(it had frayed at grip end)but did not take care of the problem.I checked to see if the Idle Actuator was working, and it is.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jerry, The initial start up idle is a little higher because of the warm up process of the motor, this is normal. It may seem higher or lower at times, it all depends on what the ECM is reading at start up.

Hi Jerry, You could check to see if you have and intake leak, and check with your local dealer to see if there has been a updated stock download for your bike, providing it is still in stock configuration. Double check the seating of the throttle cable and make sure it is not binding in the fairing and or around the tank.
