Hey, how's it goin'?  My question is probably a stupid one but... is there a preferred method to splitting the trans on this quad as I have to replace one of the halves of the case?  Broke part by kick starter bolt.  Any other advise would be very helpful.  I've done top end work but was a little gun shy of the bottom end.  I can do it I just need to know about splitting the two halves so I don't make matters worse in the long run.

Hi Dave,

I recommend following the service manual's procedures for separating the cases. I also recommend farming the work out. : )

Before you get into the job, have a local machinist and/or welder inspect the damages. Some defects in cases can be repaired without the expense of buying new cases, etc...
