Motorcycle Repair: Cracked panel repair, plastic body filler, honda shadow

Question
1993 Honda Shadow 600cc, my side panel is cracked about 5",
I'm thinking that some webbing (lace?) on the backside with some glue would do to hold it, but wanted to check to see if there were more solid options, both final appearance, and strength.

Answer
Hi Marcus,

I've had success with reinforcing the backside with a fiberglass repair or patch kit. Cut fiber strips accordingly and lay them in place with the resin.

Once dry, use plastic body filler on the front side and then refinish. In some cases, refinishing may not even be necessary as the crack may be nearly invisible.

You can purchase ABS plastic repair welders that do a decent repair.
