The bike is a 96 heritage softail special. I also have a question regarding turn signals. I would like to remove my front turn/running lights But i would like the rear to fuction properlly. I have removed the front turn signal/ running lights and what is happenning is when I turn the switch for left or right turn signal on the rear lights come on but do not flash. How do I get it to fuction with out the front signal lights?
-----Question-----
I am thinking about lowering the rear of the bike with progressive air shocks how important is it to also lower the front as far as handling?
-----Answer-----
You didn't say what kind of bike you have or what model.  But generally I would recommend that you DON'T lower the front end.  You won't notice any difference in handling with just the rear lowered.  Also, before you go spending hundreds of dollars on new shocks you should consider a lowering kit from Drag or Progressive or White Brothers or the softail lowering kit from Harley which is actually cheaper.  The kits cost between eighty and a hundred ten dollars.  ($80 for the HD softail kit) These will give you between one and two inches depending on the model.  If you lower the front you are going to lose so much travel in your forks that you will hate the ride.

Answer
Why in the world would you want to remove the front turn signals?  Aside from being illegal and not passing inspection you're setting yourself up for someone hitting you from the front when you make a turn.  Why not put on a set of small bullet turn signals like the ones from KURYAKYN?  They're LED and they are bright and small and chrome with optional colored lenses.  You can mount them down on the fork legs.  I really don't want to be liable for telling someone how to do what you want.  Sorry, you're on your own.
