Motorcycle Repair: My first Harley - wont turn over, trickle charger, single white female

Question
Hello Mike.  I'm a SWF (single white female) with my FIRST Harley.  I've just learned to ride.  I just bought a 2003 Dyna Wide Glide through the Harley online network, from a Dealer in Texas.  I live in Virginia so I had it shipped, which took two long weeks. The guys in Texas have been great and told me they started the bike every morning and night.  I got it about a week ago and just cannot get it to turn over. All the lights are bright and they don't degrade when I try to start it, which tells me it's probably NOT the battery.  It makes a loud clicking noise and sometimes 'tries to turnover.  I have put gas in, so it's not that (a blonde thing...), and I have made sure the chock was on, and the fuel switch.  My neighbor thinks it might be the starter, but how could two weeks on the road affect the starter?  I don't have a trailer, so I cannot get it to a mechanic.  I'm dying to ride it and am very frustrated.  Someone else suggested I charge it, and told me to buy a "trickle charger."

Any suggestions?  I'm so disheartened because I know so little and I'm on my own.

Thanks for anything you could suggest.

Answer
You can have bright lights and still have a low battery. First check the battery to make sure it has water in it if its not a sealed battery. Next, charge the battery with a charger that has 2 amps output over night and then try it
