Motorcycle Repair: 1978 Honda 750K, 1978 honda 750, lighting power

Question
I just Bought a 1978 Honda 750. The Previous owner was ridding maby two weeks before i got it and says it just up and died on him. the body is in great condition and the engine appears to have no leaks at all. I tried to jump it but it wasnt starting. I looked at the sparkplugs and they are ok. it could use some new ones but they should be good enough to give it enough spark for a quick start. I dont know if it has to do with the carb or not. what should i do to get this thing started?

Answer
Brandon.... Just what was it doing?  Was the engine turning over and not starting or was it not turning over?
Start with the basics...  Compression test.. all four around 160 psi... fully charged battery... Fuel system clean from gas cap to float bowls. Check all wiring connections. The bikes from this era tend to have problems with the ignition switch base. Turn on the switch and wiggle the handlebars from left to right and see if there are changes in the lighting/power.
