Motorcycle Repair: cam chain, honda twin, chain tension

Question
I diassembled the top end of a 74 honda twin (I know you are not an expert in hondas) and the cam chain did not have a master link. So I used a chain breaker to push a pin out. My question is should I get a new chain or push the pin back in when I reassemble? I can only imagine what would happen if the link failed. thanks

Answer
You can use a master link, but only use the permanent style where you have to use the tool to dimple the pin ends after you put the sideplate on.  Don't use a master link with the spring clip retainer.  Hopefully you checked the cam chain tension and tensioner before you ripped it all apart to see if the chain was so stretched that it needs replacing anyway.  Make sure you line up the timing marks on the cam correctly with the edge of the cylinder head when you reassemble.
